Remember couple of years ago adding butter to your morning Joe was all the rage. What happened, I thought Starbucks will be all over it. No idea why it did catch on.
I was talking to my mom the other day and mentioned bullet proof coffee and adding butter to a hot beverage. She smiled at me at said my grandmother always made her morning tea with ghee and had it for decades as long as she lived. I was in complete disbelief. So theres nothing new and trendy about buttered coffee I guess. Yet another healing Ayurvedic drink like turmeric latte that caught on with the world that originated in India, WHAT!
I love my coffee strong, however, my body can’t handle coffee first thing in the morning, its always after breakfast. This is a flexible recipe. Basically you just add MCT oil or ghee to your regular coffee. The fat makes the coffee thick and foamy when whisked in a high speed blender or one of those handheld foamers. Heres how I make my buttered coffee. try it, its really good.
Directions
- Bring 1/2 a cup of water and 1/2 cup of plant milk to a boil. Pull 2-3 shots of espresso. Carefully add the boiling hot milk to a high speed blender along with 1/2-1 teaspoon MCT OIL or ghee plus the coffee. Give it a good whiz it thick and foamy. about 30 seconds. Pour into a mug and Enjoy. Sprinkle some cacao and/ sweetener if desired.
- NOTE: the ratio of milk and water is totally upto you.
