Homemade Garlic Bread

Ingredients
- 1½ sticks unsalted butter, softened to room temperature up to one cup
- 4-6 cloves garlic minced or grated
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp dried mixed Italian herbs or oregano
- ½-¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 1lb Italian rustic/French/Country loaf
- ¼-½ tsp sea salt depending on salted or unsalted butter
Instructions
- Set the oven to low broil.
- Combine together the softened butter, herbs, garlic, garlic powder, salt and half of the grated parmesan cheese in a small bowl and mix well..
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, I like to start at the top, inset the knife half way and go around the loaf to keep even thickness the same on both sides.
- Using a knife or spatula spread half of the garlic butter mixture onto one half of the loaf. Repeat with remaining butter mixture on the second half. Place the bread buttered side up on a baking sheet and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese evenly.
- Place the baking sheet in the center rack of the oven and broil until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Keep a constant watchful eye on the bread as it goes from toasty to burn very quickly. Garnish with a little parsley for color if needed. Served immediately.
