Creamy Poppy Seed Dressing is flavorful, dairy free, light, a salad dressing or sauce that is a perfect mix of sweet, savory with nutty flavor from the tahini. It has been our favorite dressing specially for vegetables that have a bit of heft to them like kale, sweet potato, cabbages. Here’s what you’ll need to make:

Ingredients Needed
- Tahini: is an excellent base in salad dressings because of its viscous, creamy texture, an awesome substitute for mayo. I love this tahini which has an lovely runny texture and fabulous taste, I discovered it on my last trip to Israel and fell in love with it. Luckily I found it at a local Mediterranean market way cheaper than on Amazon. I linked it on Amazon so you know what to look for.
- Lemon juice: acid component to bring out the flavor and balance.
- Sweetener: feel free to use honey or maple syrup depending on your diet and preference. Sugar works well too if thats what you have.
- Dijon mustard: the tangy savory flavor of mustard really works well in this recipe, don’t skip it.
- Poppy seeds: we love the delicate crunch and lovely flavor of poppy seeds. Plus it looks so pretty suspended in the dressing.
- Seasonings: garlic or onion powder add some flavor. Herbs like parsley and dill work well too.
- Water: a good idea to keep a little water to thin the dressing.

Notes
- If you don’t have or need a swap try natural, creamy cashew butter. However I recommend tahini for the best flavor.
