6-8Oranges; Cara, Blood, Navel, Valencia, Pixie, Mandarin should get about 4 cups of juice
4lemons and/limes juiced
1tspground cardamom
3inchpiece ginger, grated and juicedor 1 teaspoon ground ginger
a few turns of freshly cracked black pepper
2cupsiced water
2-4tsphoney or maple syrupfor sweetness optional
a small handful of holy basil or Italian basillightly bruised
ice as needed
Instructions
Extract as much juice from the oranges to get about 4 cups, if you have to you can strain the juice. I like the pulp and leave it whole.
Add juice from the lemons ginger and sweetener if using and basil leaves. Stir in the ground spices and chilled water.
Place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes for the spices to infuse. Serve chilled over ice! if not drinking right away, don't add the basil, it turns dark and makes the drink bitter.
